Kathmandu, March 29: The Federation of Nepali Journalists, a professional representative body of journalists across the country, is celebrating its 62nd anniversary with various programmes.
On the occasion, FNJ President Dr Mahendra Bista extended best wishes and congratulations to all FNJ members and all Nepali journalists across the country.
In a statement released today, he also pledged to commit to profession and follow in the footsteps shown by predecessors despite challenges and difficulties.
He also made a pledge to continue to work for press freedom and rights to freedom of speech, civic rights, development of journalism and the rights of working journalists.
“Nepali media is going through various challenges and opportunities alike. Incidents of violation of press freedom are the same on tendency level despite some decrement in number. Impunity and self-censorship remain the same. Although there are some improvements in the implementation of the Working Journalists Act and their minimum wage, the problems are yet to be resolved completely,” said the statement.
Meanwhile, the FNJ is observing its 62nd anniversary organising various programmes in different places today.
