Bhojpur, April 21: The District Administration Office, Bhojpur issued a high alert to human settlement around the Arun River that was blocked by a landslide debris.
The creation of an artificial lake after the river blockage for the past two days following a landslide has posed a threat to the settlement in and around Salpasilitho Rural Municipality, Leguwa Bazaar of Arun Rural Municiapality and Deurali of Sashadananda Municipality of the district.
An emergency meeting of the District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee held today urged the locals to stay on high-alert to the possible consequences stemming from the river blockade.
The Office urged locals not to go for fishing in the river and for cattle grazing around the river area, deciding to ban the movement of boats along the river in the wake of the river blockage, according to Committee Coordinator and Chief District Officer Goma Devi Chemjong.
The landslide caused by a flood in the Barun River in the district has been obstructing water from flowing into the Arun River at Syakshila Gola in Bhote Khola Rural Municipality since Thursday evening.
